The primary aim of the project is to increase the policy capacity of the participating organizations to engage in evidence-based dialogue to create an enabling environment for sustainable enterprise and employment. The assessment checks the current challenges faced by the Federation Of Yemen Chambers Of Commerce And Industry.  In terms of policy direction to create an inclusive model of development for the Arab region, policymakers need more guidance on what the priority areas are in terms of urgency and more significant impact. The regional project, therefore, aims to assist these organizations in developing more focused policy agendas that can provide practical guidance to policymakers.

The study objectives

The study objective is to assess the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The methodology implemented ILO’s assessment format and methods via key informant interviews that tackled the needed assessment criteria set by the International Labor Organization standards.

About Federation Of Yemen Chambers Of Commerce And Industry

A republican decree established the Federation of Yemen Chambers Of Commerce And Industry in 1963, number 14, and now is based on law number 27 the year 2003 set its vision to enable Yemen’s private sector to play a pioneering role in the economy via a number of objectives that include (a) preparing economic studies, (b) present the private sector, (c) provide reporting, (d) act as a consultant to the government, (e) lead collective negotiation, (f) act as an arbitrator, (g) facilitate international cooperation, (h) provide expert advice, (i) supervise local chambers and assist their growth.

The current mission of the Federation indicates “To be a pioneer institution in the comprehensive economic development and the main supporter and organizer in developing the private sector activities for both companies & individuals. As well as providing real support to develop the activities of the Yemeni chambers of commerce and industry.” (FYCCI Website: http://www.fycci-ye.org ). The current vision indicates “Highlighting the role of the federation and its members in the comprehensive economic, social development.”
